Como demolished Torino 6-0 to temporarily leapfrog Juventus in the Serie A table, as Martin Baturina inspired and Tasos Douvikas bagged a brace.

The Lariani were flying high in sixth place after their thumping 3-0 victory away to Lazio, winning four of the last six games. Assane Diao, Alvaro Morata, Edoardo Goldaniga and Nikola Cavlina were still out of action. Toro lost 5-1 the last time these sides met in November, and were in crisis after losing four of their last five Serie A fixtures. The absentee list included Cristiano Biraghi, Zakaria Aboukhlal, Gvidas Gineitis, Giovanni Simeone, Perr Schuurs and Zanos Savva.

Jesus Rodriguez’s header looped just wide in the opening minutes, then he couldn’t get enough on the Martin Baturina roll across from six yards.

These were only warnings, as Tasos Douvikas returned to the starting XI and made an immediate impact, running onto the smart Lucas Da Cunha ball over the top and holding off Saul Coco to beat the on-rushing Alberto Paleari.

Che Adams had a shot charged down by Marc-Oliver Kempf, but the hosts doubled their lead when Alex Valle sent Baturina down the centre, the Douvikas run drew away a defender, creating the gap to drill hard and low into the bottom corner. It was the Croatian talent’s third goal in four games.

Cyril Ngonge’s deflected effort skimmed the upright, but Torino lost Ardian Ismajli to yet another injury after just 21 minutes.

Paleari got down for a tricky one-handed save on Douvikas, who shrugged off Coco, but it should’ve been 3-0 when Jesus Rodriguez ballooned over the bar from 12 yards after good work from Nico Paz and Baturina.

Como received a penalty when Guillermo Maripan went sliding to block a Douvikas effort, it bounced off his leg and onto the arm, awarded following the VAR review. Lucas Da Cunha converted into the top corner.

Toro visibly vanished from the pitch after that, conceding again when Douvikas ran onto a Baturina through ball to dribble around the goalkeeper and deposit into an empty net.

Nicolas Kuhn then got his first Serie A goal, a left-foot curler from the edge of the area taking a slight deflection to loop into the far top corner.

Maxence Caqueret came off the bench and added a sixth, his half-volley from the edge of the box after a Cesare Casadei clearance. It means over two games this season, Como put 11 goals past Torino.
