At this point, it has become well-established that FC Barcelona intend to sign a new centre-back in the summer transfer window of 2026.

The Blaugrana’s priority is to bring in a left-footed centre-back and multiple sources have reported that Inter Milan heavyweight Alessandro Bastoni is the main target.

In fact, reports even suggested that a meeting had taken place between Barcelona director Deco and Bastoni’s agent when the former was in Milan recently.

However, as per the latest update from Fabrizio Romano (h/t Carpetas FCB), Bastoni has not held any conversations with any club about a possible transfer.

The Italian international feels happy and settled at Inter Milan, and as such, the possibility of a transfer is not being considered by either party at this point.

Bastoni is widely considered one of the best centre-backs in the game currently, and his profile is a perfect fit for what Barcelona are currently looking for.

The Blaugrana got to see his ability first-hand when the two teams squared off in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals last season.

So, it is understandable why Barcelona would be eyeing a move for Bastoni, although the player is settled and content with the Nerazzurri.

Moreover, even in the case of the Italy centre-back being open to a move, finances would be a hindrance as he would command an enormous fee, making him out of reach for the reigning La Liga champions.

Other names such as Josko Gvardiol, Pau Torres, and Nico Schlotterbeck are also on Barcelona’s radars, and it remains to be seen who they end up signing next summer.
