Serie A | Lecce 2-2 Bologna: Camarda’s first Serie A goal snatches precious point

Bologna were moments away from a precious victory away to Lecce, but were stunned by the last-gasp Francesco Camarda equaliser, the teenager’s debut Serie A goal.

It was a dire start to the campaign for the hosts, who had one point from four rounds, and lost 3-0 to Milan in the Coppa Italia midweek. Absentees included Matias Perez, Balthazar Pierret, Filip Marchwinski and Gaby Jean. Bologna won all their home fixtures and lost every away match, including 1-0 at Aston Villa in the Europa League on Thursday. Ciro Immobile, Ibrahim Sulemana and Nicolò Casale were still out of action.

Jonathan Rowe received his first start and nearly scored within three minutes, pouncing on a misplaced Kouassi pass out from the back to see his finish deflected wide.

Instead, it was Lecce who opened the scoring, as after Lukasz Skorupski’s one-handed save on a Santiago Pierotti header, Medon Berisha pulled back from the by-line and the failed Juan Miranda clearance allowed Lassana Coulibaly to tap in from six yards.

They nearly got a second soon after, as Jhon Lucumi deflected the Tete Morente scorcher from the edge of the area onto the woodwork.

Bologna had attempts from distance with Riccardo Orsolini and Rowe, but they received a penalty when Owen Kouassi clumsily bundled into the back of Thiijs Dallinga. Orsolini kept his cool to send Wladimiro Falcone the wrong way to equalise.

Coulibaly was unlucky not to complete his brace on the hour mark, as his angled drive on the Antonino Gallo pull-back from the left thumped the base of the far post.

Gallo also went for goal himself after robbing Federico Bernardeschi, forcing a tough save out of Skorupski.

Instead, Bologna turned the game around when Jens Odgaard was found in acres of space down the right, his angled drive deflected off Tiago Gabriel to wrongfoot Falcone.

Incredibly, Lecce rattled the frame of the goal for the third time when Santiago Pierotti’s effort beat Skorupski to bounce off the far post.

Tiago Gabriel nodded a Berisha free kick wide, but Lecce snatched a point with practically the last kick of the game, as Camarda got a glancing header at the near post on a corner for his first ever Serie A goal.
