Serie A | Napoli 1-2 Como: Fabregas earns big victory at the Maradona | OneFootball

Como pounced on defensive errors to secure a big 2-1 victory away to Napoli in an early challenge for top four spots, as Martin Baturina and Tasos Douvikas were on target.

The Partenopei made two changes from the side that beat Genoa 2-0, with Matias Olivera and surprisingly Noa Lang replacing Leonardo Spinazzola and Alisson Santos, as the winger had been transfer-listed. Kevin De Bruyne was still only fit for the bench, with Alessandro Buongiorno and Luca Marianucci injured. Como opened their season with a 1-1 home draw against Udinese, again starting summer signings Trevoh Chalobah, Yan Couto, Bruno Kaiki and Luis Milla.

There was a hug before kick-off between coaches Max Allegri and Cesc Fabregas, who famously clashed on the touchline and in the press room last season.

Como kept possession early doors, but Olivera pulled back from the by-line for a mad scramble in the six-yard box that Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa and Scott McTominay couldn’t finish off.

Lucas Da Cunha’s strike was deflected wide and Alex Valle couldn’t keep the header on target from the resulting corner, but Como found the breakthrough on 16 minutes.

Assane Diao got away from Olivera down the right and rolled across for Martin Baturina, who in one sweeping movement turned around to drill into the near bottom corner from 12 yards.

Lang really should’ve equalised moments later, but he turned a free header inches over from the Matteo Politano cross, then Como wasted a golden opportunity on the counter-attack with five on three, trying to walk it into the net.

That proved costly, because Napoli got the equaliser a minute later as Hojlund gathered on the edge of the area and turned to fire through a sea of legs into the bottom corner.

However, Anguissa got into a terrible tangle playing out from the back with a poor back-pass to Amir Rrahmani, intercepted by Baturina to set up the easy Tasos Douvikas finish inside the area.

Yan Couto got back for a great tackle on Hojlund, then saw penalty appeals rejected for a nudge on Lang, but Como had two big opportunities in first half stoppages.

Alex Meret flew to fingertip the Baturina header over, but on the resulting corner was fortunate that the Nico Paz header squirmed under his body, getting trapped before rolling over the line.

Como continued to dominate possession and the initiative after the restart, although Olivera volleyed wide on a rare counter-attack, so Allegri introduced Kevin De Bruyne, Alisson Santos and Leonardo Spinazzola.

This prompted a period of pressure and possession from the hosts, but Butez was quick off his line to anticipate Hojlund, then Ivan Smolcic showed brave defending to stop De Bruyne nodding in the Stanislav Lobotka cross, leading to a nasty clash of heads.

De Bruyne and Alisson Santos also had efforts inches off target, then Marc-Oliver Kempf off balance had to scramble a De Bruyne assist clear from the six-yard box. Lorenzo Lucca and Douvikas had headers straight at the respective goalkeepers in stoppages.

Lobotka did have the ball in the net at the 95th minute, but play had already been halted for Lucca’s offside position in the build-up.
