The Bianconeri are finding their feet under coach Luciano Spalletti, winning six of their last seven matches between Serie A, the Champions League and Coppa Italia.
Back-to-back victories over Bologna and Roma saw them climb the standings, moving to within a point of fourth place.
Francisco Conceicao joined Juan Cabal, Federico Gatti, Daniele Rugani and Dusan Vlahovic on the treatment table, but Koopmeiners is back after suspension and returns to his favoured midfield role.
Gleison Bremer got his first start since the meniscus injury last week and retains his spot in defence.
Weston McKennie has shaken off a knock to start in a more advanced role, helping Kenan Yildiz support Openda, dropping Jonathan David to the bench.

Pisa have just one win all season, 1-0 against Cremonese on November 7, and sit in penultimate place.
Their late equaliser snatched a 2-2 draw away to Cagliari before Christmas.
Ebeneezer Akinsanmiro and M’Bala Nzola are away at AFCON, with Calvin Stengs and former Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado injured.
Matteo Tramoni and Domenico Moreo were thought to be challenging for one place, but instead both get the nod with Henrik Meister benched.
There could be space late on for Louis Buffon, son of Juventus legend Gigi.
These teams have not met in Serie A since 1991, with Pisa losing all six previous encounters at this level.
