The Rossoneri suffered a shock home defeat to Cremonese, then won away to Lecce, but Max Allegri insisted their season would start tonight.

There are still problems, as Rafael Leao is again out with a muscular issue he sustained in the Coppa Italia last month, and Ardon Jashari won’t be ready for a few weeks yet.

Deadline day signing Rabiot arrived from Olympique Marseille and makes his debut in the starting XI, sending Christian Pulisic to the bench after international duty with the USMNT.

Pervis Estupinan is passed fit to start despite a small muscular issue.

Curiously, Rabiot was thrown out of Marseille due to an ugly locker room brawl with teammate Jonathan Rowe, who is now on the Bologna bench, so they meet again already.

This match is also a repeat of last season’s Coppa Italia Final, won by Bologna for their first piece of silverware in decades.

It has been a mixed bag for Vincenzo Italiano this term, losing 1-0 to Roma, then beating Como by the same result.

Ciro Immobile, Tommaso Pobega, Emil Holm, Nicolò Casale and Ibrahim Sulemana are on the treatment table, leaving the coach with limited options.

Castro is therefore supported by Orsolini, Nicolò Cambiaghi and Giovanni Fabbian, the latter linked with a move to Milan this summer.
