Serie A has reportedly requested that the summer transfer window be opened between June 1 and June 10 this year in order to facilitate the movement of players before the newly-revamped Club World Cup, which begins on the 15th of that month.
At the beginning of October, it was reported that FIFA would introduce a ‘new’ transfer window between June 1 and June 10, aimed at facilitating the movement of players ahead of the Club World Cup.
The introduction of a transfer window would also help teams find agreement with players whose contracts expire on June 30, the standard date for contract expiries in Europe, which falls right in the middle of the Club World Cup this year.
Piotr Zielinski signs his contract after joining Inter as a free agent, July 6, 2024.
According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Serie A have officially requested that the transfer window in Italy be opened between June 1 and June 10, which would allow teams to register new players from June onwards, rather than from July 1, which has been standard up until this point.
Di Marzio adds that the request is largely to aid the teams participating in the upcoming Club World Cup, ie. Inter and Juventus.
The changes to the transfer window have not yet been officially confirmed by the league, but FIFA are expected to approve the decision given that they brought the proposal forwards in the first place.
