🔨 Serie A, the worst and best at heading! Colombo and Kolo 😱 | OneFootball

There are still several days to go before Serie A resumes: a period to think about the national team, but also one in which we can analyze the numbers from the opening rounds of the league season.

Let’s take a look at the worst and best headers of the ball in Serie A. We will consider players who have attempted at least 15 aerial duels.

Bottom 5: Colombo at the bottom, Piccoli a surprise

The Bottom 5 of the best headers features some surprising names:

The names of Roberto Piccoli and Rafa Marin (190 and 191 cm) stand out, while Colombo and Varela (183 cm and 184 cm) receive plenty of high balls despite being slightly below the Serie A average height (185 cm). Low numbers as well for Kolo Muani despite his height.

Giorgio Cittadini: 16 attempted - 14 successful | 87.5% success rate

Manuel Akanji: 19 attempted - 15 successful | 78.9% success rate

Amir Rrahmani: 34 attempted - 26 successful | 76.5% success rate*

Strahinja Pavlovic: 15 attempted - 11 successful | 73.3% success rate

*Rrahmani is in sole possession of 1st place for total aerial duels won, the only player in Serie A with at least 20 duels won.

Besides Rrahmani’s figure (which balances out Rafa Marin’s), it is interesting to note that Akanji is the only player in this ranking under 1.90 m tall: the Swiss defender is in fact 188 cm. Meanwhile, Cittadini (193 cm), Calvani (190 cm), Pavlovic (194 cm) and Rrahmani (192 cm) are all well above the league average.
