Inter scraped a last-gasp victory away to Verona with a sensational Piotr Zielinski set-piece routine and Martin Frese own goal, after Giovane’s temporary equaliser.
The Nerazzurri got back on track with a midweek 3-0 win over Fiorentina, but with Marcus Thuram and Henrikh Mkhitaryan still out of action, brought Ange-Yoan Bonny back into the starting XI and rotated the midfield. Hellas were still without a win all season, plus Suat Serdar joined Grigoris Kastanos, Unai Nunez, Daniel Oyegoke, Moatasem Al-Musrati, Tomas Suslov and Yellu Santiago on the treatment table.

Lorenzo Montipò needed his first great fingertip save after three minutes, pushing a Piotr Zielinski angled drive inches wide of the far post.
Victor Nelsson performed an extraordinary goal-line clearance after Lautaro Martinez had sprung the offside trap to lob the on-rushing Verona ‘keeper.
Inter broke through in real style with a routine off the training ground, as Hakan Calhanoglu laid off a corner to the edge of the area, where Zielinski swept his perfect volley into the roof of the net with the inside of the right boot. It was the Poland international’s first goal since a brace in the 4-4 with Juventus in October 2024.

Luis Henrique stood up a cross for the Alessandro Bastoni header, forcing a fine save out of Montipò, with Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro preventing Carlos Augusto from turning in the rebound.
Martin Frese’s header on a corner tested Yann Sommer, and it was a warning, because Verona got the equaliser before half-time.
Gift Orban sent Giovane down the right, where he took a couple of touches to take on Bastoni, and blasted a powerful finish into the far top corner, bending back Sommer’s fingertips.

Hellas nearly turned it around on the stroke of half-time, as Rafik Belghali rolled across from the right, Orban got in front of Manuel Akanji for a flick from six yards that bounced off the base of the far post.
Inter ran another massive risk on 66 minutes when Giovane pounced on a misplaced Sucic pass and was brought down by Yann Bisseck. Verona wanted a red card, but it was still in the centre-circle, so the referee opted for a yellow.
Francesco Pio Esposito came off the bench and his header looped onto the roof of the net from Federico Dimarco’s cross, while Dimarco also tested Montipò from a tight angle.

Armel Bella-Kotchap did enough to prevent a Lautaro Martinez diving header, while Davide Frattesi nodded wide from a corner.
Inter snatched victory deep into stoppages when Barella whipped in a cross from the left that sailed over Pio Esposito, but hit Martin Frese behind him, wrong-footing the goalkeeper.
