Serie A Women’s Cup round-up: Roma run riot as Juventus edge out Inter | OneFootball

Juventus and Roma will meet in a repeat of the 2025 Serie A Women’s Cup final after they came through their semi-final ties against Inter and Sassuolo respectively.

Own goal sends Juve through

Juventus required just one goal to see off Inter in the last four. The decisive effort arrived in the 34th minute at the Stadio Vittoria Bella. Inter defender Samantha van Diemen had no time to react as a flicked-on corner diverted off her knee and into the net. Juventus goalkeeper Larissa Rusek made a couple of crucial stops in the second period to keep Inter at bay. Rusek’s interventions helped Juventus record a fourth consecutive clean sheet in the Serie A Women’s Cup.

Roma get revenge for group-stage defeat

While Juventus are yet to concede in the competition, their backline will have to be at their very best in the final if they are to negate the threat of a Roma side that netted seven goals in a one-sided semi-final against Sassuolo. Roma racked up four first-half goals to ensure there would be no repeat of their 1-0 loss to Sassuolo. Kayleigh van Dooren netted twice in two minutes to seal a brace inside the opening six minutes of proceedings at the Stadio Enzo Ricci. 

Martina Piemonte then headed in from Valentina Bergamaschi’s inviting delivery to net her first goal since joining Roma from local rivals Lazio. Maya Doms then added her name to the scoresheet. She drove a fierce shot past Noemi Benz to net her first Roma goal against the team she left in the summer.

Not content with their dominant first-half display, Roma flew out of the blocks to take their tally to six inside the opening 10 minutes of the second period. Piemonte made a perfect connection with a bouncing ball on the edge of the box, driving it with such pace that it left Benz with little opportunity to react. Manuela Giugliano then slid a clinical spot-kick under the despairing goalkeeper after the referee had spotted a handball in the box.

As the game moved past the hour mark, a poor backpass gifted Piemonte the chance to complete her hat-trick. The only minor frustration for Roma was their failure to keep a clean sheet. Helene Fercocq produced a fierce strike from the edge of the box that got Sassuolo on the board. But it failed to lift spirits as they slumped to a heavy 7-1 defeat.

Serie A Women’s Cup final date and kick-off time

Roma will face Juventus in the 2026 Serie A Women’s Cup final at the Stadio Torquato Bresciani in Viareggio. The contest will kick off at 6pm CEST on Saturday, September 19.

Juventus will look to retain the trophy after winning 3-2 in last year’s final. Meanwhile, Roma will be hoping to lift the trophy for the first time.
