Série C: what Paysandu need to stay alive and go up? | OneFootball

First of all, Paysandu is in a dramatic situation in Serie C of the Brazilian Championship. The team does not depend only on its own results to stay alive in the fight for promotion. To give you an idea, the chances of moving up to Serie B at the moment are just over 12%.

Papão takes the field this Saturday, the 3rd, at 7:30 p.m. (Brasília time), at Curuzu, against Ferroviária. The team from Pará is in fourth place in Group C, with just 1 point, and is looking for its first win in this stage. To be clear, the last match of the round-robin stage will be against Brusque, away from home.

However, Paysandu could arrive next weekend still alive or already eliminated. To visit Brusque in Santa Catarina still alive in the race for promotion, Papão needs to win this Saturday’s match in Pará and hope that the game between Inter de Limeira and Brusque, which takes place today at the same time, ends in a draw.

In that scenario, Ferroviária would remain at the top with 8 points. Inter de Limeira would move to 7 points, Brusque would go to 6 points, and Papão would reach 4 points. In that context, Paysandu would have to beat Brusque in the final round to get to 7 points and overtake its opponent.

With that, they would need to hope for a Ferroviária win in Araraquara against Inter de Limeira. The situation is complicated, but internally there is still belief in Paysandu’s qualification, and today’s match becomes the most important of the season.

Bruno Bisco believes in Paysandu’s qualification

“After the match against Inter de Limeira, we were sad, of course. Mainly because we had a very good first half. We had every chance to come away with the win in that match, unfortunately it didn’t happen. But the next day, we saw the result of the other game, of our rivals, and we saw that there was still a chance. As difficult as it may be, we still have a chance, so we have to switch gears this week, work well, so that we can get this win and arrive in Brusque still with a chance of promotion.”
