FC Utrecht’s upcoming opponent in the Europa League, Servette FC, parted ways with manager Thomas Häberli on Monday. The Swiss club announced this through official channels.

The coach’s resignation comes four days before the first match against FC Utrecht in the third qualifying round of the Europa League. Häberli (51) has been held responsible for the disappointing results in recent weeks.

Servette were eliminated from the Champions League preliminary round by Czech side Viktoria Plzen and lost their first two league matches against BSC Young Boys (3-1) and FC St. Gallen (1-4). Servette finished second in the Swiss Super League last season with Häberli and have had an underwhelming start by new standards.

Häberli’s former assistants Alexandre Alphonse and Bojan Dimic have been appointed to temporarily manage the first team as Servette search for a new boss.
