Servigroup Peñíscola have finalised their 2026/27 squad by signing Venezuela international Carlos Sanz, a 30-year-old cierre.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Sanz arrives on a free after the Copa Libertadores with Centauros de Venezuela and brings defensive solidity, leadership and intensity.
In Spain he featured for Real Betis Futsal, then joined Jaén in 2024, enjoying a strong campaign that included the Copa de España, the Copa del Rey final and the title play-offs.
Sanz is the fourth arrival after Puchy, Joni Franco and Pablo García. Loan returnees Yunii, Bruno Barea and Álex Cervera also rejoin, completing the group with last season’s holdovers.
The league season begins on the weekend of 12 and 13 September, alongside a rebrand of the top flight as Liga Prime Futsal and a revamped format.
The 30-match regular season has been scrapped in favour of Torneo Apertura and Torneo Clausura. Each runs for 15 matchdays, from September to December and January to May respectively, with every team meeting once and seven or eight at home.
A play-off will then decide the overall champion. Places go to the top two in Apertura and the top two in Clausura, plus the next four, or more in case of overlap, by combined points. The bottom two on aggregate points are relegated.
Peñíscola open Apertura away to Wanapix Zaragoza and finish at El Ejido on 30 December. Clausura starts at Juan Vizcarro against Palma Futsal on 10 January 2027 and ends in mid-May at Valdepeñas.
