Manchester United’s decision to invest over £200 million in new signings last summer has had a major impact on their third-placed finish in the Premier League this season. Senne Lammens, who was signed from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day, has sorted out the Red Devils’ goalkeeping position, once considered the team’s bane.
The Belgian has been indispensable between the sticks and is considered by many to be the signing of the season. Meanwhile, United also addressed their attacking struggles by signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, all of whom are now key members of the squad.
The Brazilian has registered ten goals and set up four more in 35 appearances, and has injected the attack with a shot of creativity. The Cameroonian, meanwhile, is the Red Devils’ joint-top scorer this season with 12 goals and three assists in 34 games.
Sesko has also been among the goals, finding the back of the net 12 times and setting up one more in 32 outings. After managing just 44 goals in the Premier League last season, United have scored 69 times this campaign, highlighting the massive impact of their new signings. However, club legend Rio Ferdinand believes that they are only going to get better.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, the former United defender insisted that the new signings will all get better next season, while he also backed Amad to step up. He said: “If we, listen, the second season now, you go, Sesko, you’re going to have a better version of Sesko you’d like to think.”
“You’ll have a better version of Amad, Mbeumo, Cunha, right? And they might add someone else to that. If those guys start hitting a bit of form and purple patches, right?”
Amad has been a livewire on the pitch, although he has managed just two goals and four assists in 33 games across competitions for United. Despite his struggles in the final third, a recent report relayed by The Peoples Person suggests that the Red Devils have the Ivorian firmly in their future plans.
Bruno Fernandes registered nine goals and 22 assists across competitions this season, and was the Premier League’s best creator by a country mile. Ferdinand went on to tip the Portuguese maestro to continue his golden run next season, adding: “His [Bruno] numbers could do a madness again next season if he continues in this form.”
“And who’s to say he’s not going to continue? Listen, after the World Cup, we have to wait and see where he is. I think that’s going to be a big telling factor on someone like Bruno because he’s going to play there. He’s going to have a long, like, 18 months.”
“But if those guys are moving in the right way and they’re finishing chances that he’s setting up, man, I mean, I want to be in their shoes. That’s the one thing I would be. If I’m the strikers in that team, I’m looking back and going, ‘Bruno, man, just get knocked out in the group stages with Portugal.’”
“Get ready for next season because I’m going to be flying all over this pitch, expecting the ball to be on the end of my left or right foot to bang goals.”

Michael Carrick has managed to get the team firing on all cylinders in a very short period of time. With INEOS expected to further invest in the squad this summer, United fans have every right to be optimistic about next season.
