“Set myself a goal” – Chelsea legend says he wants to be manager of the club

A Chelsea legend has declared that he wants to become manager of the club one day very soon, but he’s not yet retired.

The Blues have a lot of legends of course, and I am sure that there is many of them who would love the idea of managing the club one day, but not all of them will manage it.

Not all of them will even go into coaching or become successful doing it, but if any current player can do it to a top standard then I have no doubt that Thiago Silva can. He’s a superbly intelligent player and has the right attitude and mentality to move into coaching, which is what he is planning to do once he retires from the game soon.

Silva is still currently playing back in his native Brazil to see his career out, but he will soon be stepping up into a coaching role, and who would bet against him becoming Chelsea manager one day? Those are his intentions.

Silva to manage Chelsea?

Thiago Silva claps the Chelsea fans

‘When I become a coach, I’ve set myself a goal: To coach all the teams where I have played,’ Silva told L’Equipe.

It does seem like something that is destined to happen. When Silva says something, you know he means it and you know he aims to follow through on all his goals. His sons are in the Chelsea academy, imagine he manages them at the club one day soon? Don’t bet against that either.

Maresca pressure?

You get a sense that Enzo Maresca and the Chelsea board are having a bit of a rift and that the two could part ways sooner rather than later, especially judging off the gaffers latest interview yesterday.

It came after Chelsea beat Everton 2-0 in what seemed to be a relief feeling for Maresca after Malo Gusto scored the decisive second goal for his side to go away with all three points.

Obviously it’s way too soon for Silva to jump in yet, but the way Chelsea go I am sure there will be an opportunity down the line in the not so distant future.
