Seven Serie A players in latest Argentina squad, Roma trio included | OneFootball

Lionel Scaloni has named his latest Argentina squad, with seven Serie A players included and a Roma trio among them. Paulo Dybala is omitted.

According to Football Italia, Argentina play friendlies against Bolivia on September 30, Burkina Faso on October 3 and Benin on October 6.

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez is selected. He has two goals from three Serie A games this season, is the reigning Capocannoniere and Inter are joint-top with a 100% record.

Roma also boast a 100% start after four matches. Leonardo Balerdi is named at centre-back, Santiago Castro at centre-forward and attacker Matias Soule also features. It is a first call-up for both Soule and Castro.

Dybala has not played for Argentina since 2024. Nahuel Molina is not selected either, despite his 65 caps.

Como’s Nico Paz continues to feature. The 22-year-old has 11 caps and there have been suggestions he could take Lionel Messi’s no.10 once the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner retires from international football.

Fiorentina’s 19-year-old Franco Mastantuono, on loan from Real Madrid, is rewarded after his hat-trick in Friday’s 4-2 win at Venezia.

Nico Gonzalez, back with Juventus after a 2025-26 loan at Atletico Madrid, is also named. He opened his Serie A account in a 2-0 victory over Parma on his first appearance of the campaign.
