Manchester City entered last night’s nil-all draw with Sunderland with five players unavailable for selection. John Stones, Mateo Kovacic and Oscar Bobb missed last night’s match due to injury. Rayan Ait-Nouri and Omar Marmoush are currently unavailable due to international duty. Following the final whistle of Manchester City’s draw with Sunderland, City had picked up several fresh injury concerns. Pep Guardiola’s side face Chelsea in two days and their squad may be stretched after last  night’s events.

Manchester City will be counting the physical cost of last night’s match.

Several Manchester City players picked up injury concerns during last night’s match. Nico picked up a knock on the knee midway through the first-half of last night’s match. He played out the remainder of the first-half but was replaced by Rodri at the interval. In quotes relayed by ESPN, Pep Guardiola wasn’t sure about the seriousness of Nico’s injury. When asked about the Spanish midfielders condition, Guardiola said: “Nico, we will see.

Savinho was another player who went down injured. The Brazilian international was replaced by Jeremy Doku in the 51st minute of last night’s match. Pep Guardiola said Savinho’s injury could be a cause for concern for his team. When asked about Savinho’s injury, the Manchester City manager said: “Savinho doesn’t look good.

There were other fitness issues on show for City last night.

Savinho and Nico weren’t the only fitness issues that arose from last night’s hard fought draw with Sunderland for Manchester City. Nathan Ake picked up a knock on his knee early in last night’s match. The Dutch defender played out the rest of last night’s game which was good news. He also played well which was pleasing to see. Nico O’Reilly wasn’t at his best before he was replaced by Josko Gvardiol at left-back. O’Reilly looked tired as the toll of playing so often seemed to have caught up to him.

There isn’t much time for the Manchester City players to rest and recover. City play Chelsea at the Etihad on Sunday and it remains to be seen how many players will miss that crucial Premier League fixture. At this stage, Nico and Savinho may be in doubt for the crucial match.
