La Liga outfit Sevilla have on Wednesday announced a fresh personnel setback in the club’s first-team ranks.
This comes amid confirmation that defensive star Marcão looks set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Marcão was for his part in from the off over the weekend, as Sevilla locked horns with Real Betis in the latest edition of El Gran Derbi.
En route to an eventual 2-0 defeat, however, the Brazilian was forced into a premature departure from proceedings with 45 minutes on the clock.
And a round of medical tests have since confirmed the extent of his issue.
As per a statement across Sevilla’s website and social media platforms on Wednesday:
‘Sevilla FC’s medical staff report that Brazilian defender Marcao is suffering from bone overload in his left foot. The defender had to be substituted at halftime during last Sunday’s match due to this injury and his recovery is being monitored.’
Though as much is yet to be confirmed, the expectation is that Marcão, at minimum, will miss out tomorrow against Extremadura in the Copa del Rey, and this weekend versus Valencia.
