Sevilla make Juanlu sale a priority amid financial squeeze

Sevilla’s cash needs have thrust Juanlu Sánchez towards the exit, with the club pushing sales to free wages and register arrivals, a reality recently acknowledged by sporting director José Ignacio Navarro.

Forthcoming departures for Akor Adams and Nianzou should ease pressure, but further deals are required. The 22-year-old wing-back endured a tricky campaign at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, losing his starting spot on the right to José Ángel Carmona during the run-in.

His market value has dipped accordingly. Transfermarkt estimates Juanlu has fallen from 15 to 10 million euros in the past year.

There has also been a shift in his potential escape route. Muchodeporte reports that Antonio Conte was the key backer of a move to Napoli and had pressed the board, but then sporting director Antonio Cordón rejected the offer as insufficient. With Conte now gone from the Diego Armando Maradona bench, that avenue appears largely closed.

Complicating matters, Juanlu sustained a muscular issue earlier this week and is not expected back until at least early August, denting his shop-window time.

The player accepts the club’s financial context and knows Sevilla are unlikely to be as inflexible as last summer if a formal bid lands.

Squad reshaping also points him towards the exit, especially after right-back Juan Iglesias arrived to increase competition. ABC de Sevilla says the board are urgently awaiting formal offers to balance the books, and Juanlu’s future looks likely to become Sevilla’s transfer saga of the window.
