Sevilla are closely tracking Jorge Carrascal’s situation at Flamengo, as a potential transfer this summer would trigger a FIFA solidarity payment in their favour. The Colombian midfielder has impressed in Brazil.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Olympique de Marseille lead the chase after a failed January attempt worth 15 million euros, and are willing to raise their bid this summer to 25 million euros including add-ons.

Sevilla signed Carrascal from Millonarios in 2016 for 900,000 euros, placing him in Sevilla Atlético. A serious meniscus injury curtailed his progress, but his stint from the age of 18 entitles the club to solidarity payments on each international transfer.

Those rules have already yielded steady income, from 30,000 euros when he joined River Plate, to 33,000 on his move to CSKA Moscow, and 125,000 from his switch to Flamengo. Each cross-border transfer adds another small sum to Sevilla’s accounts.

His impending involvement at the next World Cup with Colombia could inflate his value before any agreement is finalised. Should a Marseille deal materialise, Sevilla’s cut could be their most significant from Carrascal to date.
