Sevilla have been keeping tabs on Mexican star Erick Sánchez, also known as ‘Chiquito Sánchez’, for some time and according to Marca, the club now believe that he is an option to bring in to rejuvenate the team. However, the cost of the midfielder is seen as an obstacle for the club.
Sánchez, who plays as a midfielder for Liga MX club Pachuca, has already represented the Mexico national team. The 24-year-old is known for his ability to carry the ball in central areas, as well as his brilliant end product.
The playmaker has a superb technique when it comes to striking the ball and this enables him to score and assist his teammates on a frequent basis. Sevilla do have some reservations about the competitive leap the player will have to take, and his adjustment to a more intense league.
The player is thrilled at the prospect of joining such a prestigious club and feels that he will perform well in La Liga. Pachuca will not roll over for the La Liga side and will demand around €10m even though Sánchez only has a year and a half left on his current contract.
Sevilla’s recent history with Mexican players at the club doesn’t bode well. For example, Tecatito Corona failed to succeed in Nervión, due to a serious ankle injury. Despite this, the Sevillistas have set their eyes on another Mexico international, and are actively exploring options to bring Sánchez to Spain.
