Sevilla rallied at home to Elche to seal a 2-2 Friday night La Liga draw on their return to domestic action following the international break.

The Andalucians led early on, but fell behind after the break, before Gerard Fernandez popped up with a late equaliser at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

The hosts have endured a mixed start to the 2025/26 season with just one win from the first three league games and they started positively against Elche.

Isaac Romero cracked home a superb opener on 28 minutes to silence the buoyant away fans with chances missed by Elche before the break.

Despite the setback, Elche’s confidence remain high, on the back of their own unbeaten start to the new campaign.

Second half chaos sees Sevilla rescue Elche draw

Elche hit back instantly after the restart, as Andre Silva poked them level from close range, to tie the game on 55 minutes.

That tipped the balance in Elche’s favour and Rafa Mir netted his third goal since joining on loan from Sevilla with a spectacular free kick to drag the away side in front.

However, there was to be one final twist, as Elche were unable to hold on for a shock win on the road in the south of Spain.

Fernandez pounced on a loose ball inside the box to convert an equaliser and bring down the curtain on a wild night in Sevilla.

A home draw nudges Sevilla up to 11th in the La Liga rankings overnight but the main early season story is still focused on Elche as they move on to sixth after four games played.

Up next for Sevilla is a trip to Alaves on September 20 with Elche returning to home soil the day after as they take on fellow promoted side Real Oviedo.
