According to a report from Spanish media outlet El Desmarque, Sevilla FC gathered reports that Akor Adams (25) was the victim of “psychological abuse and bullying” during his time at Montpellier HSC.

The Nigerian international left the French side during the winter transfer window to join Sevilla. The Spanish outlet writes that Sevilla met with Adams in January and were keen to secure the forward after learning that he was determined to change his environment.

El Desmarque alleges that reports gathered by Sevilla indicate Adams was the victim of bullying, with the more experienced players in the dressing room wanting another player to start ahead of Adams, and creating an “unacceptable atmosphere.” The Spanish outlet further writes that an unnamed key figure at Montpellier said, “[Adams] is too good a person. Anyone else would have come to blows with his teammates.”

Montpellier were relegated to Ligue 2 shortly after Adams left for Spain. The striker, conversely, has been flourishing at the Spanish club this season, having scored twice and assisted one, with one of his goals coming in the 4-1 victory over FC Barcelona.
