Sevilla have enquired about a loan for Costa Rica striker Manfred Ugalde from Spartak Moscow, ESTADIO Deportivo reports, with Spartak preferring a sale and also targeting Kike Salas.
Ugalde, 24 and 1.73m, is nicknamed the Pequeño Agüero in his homeland. He is also thought to have been offered to city rivals Real Betis.
He topped the Russian scoring charts in 2024/25 with 18 goals and six assists. Last season his return fell to eight goals and four assists.
Spartak are reluctant to sanction a loan, preferring a permanent exit to recoup the €13 million paid to sign him from Twente in January 2024. That stance also complicates Sevilla’s plan B, a straight swap involving Kike Salas.
For now, a cashless swap is blocked. The Moscow club have submitted a formal €10 million offer for Kike Salas, and further movement could follow.
Ugalde’s arrival has the coach’s approval, but new sporting director José Ignacio Navarro is working with a tight budget. Sevilla are prioritising free transfers and loans, a policy already seen with Jon Guridi, Juan Iglesias and Arouna Sangante.
Limited funds will be directed towards a goalkeeper and the forward line unless a major sale materialises. Akor Adams heads the list of potential departures, while Rubén Vargas is gaining value after strong displays for Switzerland at the World Cup.
