South Dublin based side Shamrock Rovers have partnered with Women’s Aid to raise funds and awareness for the charity. This is a ‘first of its kind’ partnership for the club. Rovers will donate 50 percent of all 2024 season ticket sales directly to the organisation.
The cold reality is that one in four women in Ireland will face domestic abuse at least once in their lives. Shamrock’s extensive donation will help with the vital work that Women’s Aid completes day-to-day in Ireland.
Sarah Benson, chief executive of Women’s Aid, spoke at a recent media day, hosted by the club.
“Women’s Aid are delighted to be joining Shamrock Rovers in this partnership and to develop the ways in which we can collaborate for the coming year.
“Women’s Aid hopes that it will help promote women’s strength and capabilities and raise awareness of warning signs of abuse and available supports to help prevent victimisation and assist those who do need help in our communities.”
Rovers will also display Women’s Aid branding on their paper season tickets, complete with helpline contact details. Tickets are on sale from February 1st, 2024.
Benson urged men to ‘become leaders and allies in the journey towards zero tolerance of violence against women’.
“Women’s Aid will be sharing our resources and engaging with the Club to encourage and support members of Shamrock Rovers. To be part of that growing movement of women and men standing up in support of those who might be at risk of or suffering domestic abuse.”
There are resources available to help you if domestic violence is something that has affected you in any way.
