Rangers beat Aberdeen 1-0 at Pittodrie to climb from ninth to sixth in the Scottish Premiership.

The Dons threatened before the break, with Kevin Nisbet's header tipped away by Ivor Pandur as the hosts pressed.

After the restart, Djeidi Gassama drew a foul from Daniel Happe and Lawrence Shankland converted the penalty in the 69th minute.

Kosta Nedeljković and Daisuke Yokota were introduced (72.) as the visitors managed the closing stages, with Ben Godfrey and Ryan Naderi added late on (86.).

Nisbet thought he had levelled, but the goal was overturned after a VAR review (84.).

There was a brief stoppage for treatment to Pandur late on before five minutes were added.

Rangers registered 18 attempts and held 56.2% possession. The Dons produced 10 attempts, with two on target.

The Dons visit Celtic next. Rangers travel to Falkirk next.
