The 19-year-old has been in talks with the Championship's new boys since the beginning of the month, but TeamTalk have further reported that Koumas remains a target, despite nearly two weeks passing since the talks opened.

It is said that Phil Parkinson's side feels that they can land him ahead of fellow second-tier sides Norwich City and Sheffield United, as they look to further bolster their attack following the injuries to marquee summer signings Josh Windass and Kieffer Moore.

While Koumas didn't set the league alight in his first campaign away from Liverpool last season, whilst at Stoke City, his 43 Championship appearances gave him valuable experience, and the hope is that he can now kick on at a different second-tier side this term.

TeamTalk's Darren Whitcoop revealed that Koumas is still a target for Wrexham as we enter the final two weeks of the summer transfer window.

The Welsh international spent last season at Stoke, his first away from Anfield since he joined their youth set-up in 2016. Whilst he played a part in Liverpool's pre-season matches a few months back, the expectation is that Arne Slot will allow Koumas to depart once more to a Championship side.

Whitcoop states that while both Sheffield United and Norwich City remain interested in the 19-year-old, Wrexham are confident that they can land him ahead of their second-tier rivals.

The Red Dragons have suffered some unfortunate injuries in attacking areas already this season, with Kieffer Moore picking up an ankle injury on opening day, although Parkinson stated that it "isn't serious," before Josh Windass appeared to suffer a hamstring injury on Saturday against West Bromwich Albion.

While the likes of Sam Smith, Nathan Broadhead and Ryan Hardie ensure that Wrexham are well-covered in central areas, Koumas would arrive with the ability to play across the attacking midfield areas, so he can cover there if needed, but would mainly play off either wing.

The 19-year-old would be a useful backup in a multitude of attacking areas and would be someone who could maintain the quality in the side when called upon.

Lewis Koumas would continue the Welsh connection at Wrexham

Wrexham have been busy in the transfer window this summer, and have secured the arrivals of several current Welsh internationals.

Nathan Broadhead and Danny Ward have signed for the Red Dragons, alongside the aforementioned Moore, and Koumas would help continue the influx of Welsh talent into the North-East Wales side.

Koumas has made six appearances for his national team at such a young age, having made his debut in May 2024, and some solid performances at Wrexham would do wonders in ensuring that his place in the Welsh squad is maintained throughout 2025/26.
