Harrison Burrows' performance on Wednesday night was crucial to Sheffield United's 1-0 win over Swansea

Sheffield United moved up to third in the Championship table midweek with their 1-0 win over Swansea City.

The Wednesday night victory took advantage of Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United and West Brom all dropping points the evening prior, jumping above them all in the standings.

A Josh Tymon own goal separated the two teams, with the Blades now just two points behind leaders Sunderland after eight games.

It was Harrison Burrows’ cross which led directly to the accidental finish from Tymon, who bundled the ball into the back of his own net.

Sheffield United were deserved winners against Swansea on Wednesday night, with Burrows playing an important role in their performance.

The full-back signed over the summer from Peterborough United, and made his eighth appearance of the season for the Blades.

In the clash away in south Wales, the 22-year-old created more chances than any other player on the pitch, with a total of three (all stats from FotMob).

Gustavo Hamer and Sydie Peck also managed two for Sheffield United, but no other player created more than one.

Burrows earned a 7.9 rating for his performance, which was the highest of anyone on either side.

The left-back was very involved in the game, taking 61 touches, the fourth most of any player for both teams, with Matt Grimes, Ben Cabango and Josh Key for Swansea the only to have any more.

Burrows also had the most passes into the final third for Chris Wilder’s side, again coming fourth overall in the game, with a total of six.

Two of the defender’s five crosses were accurate, although one of the three that weren’t led to the own goal, which was a dangerous ball swung in from distance that put the ball into a very dangerous position in the box.

Burrows has made a name for himself for his attacking prowess, effectively earning an assist on Wednesday night, even if it may not go down as one in the history books.

But his defensive performance was also important to the team’s victory midweek away from home.

He won five of his seven tackles, made six recoveries and was only dribbled past once.

Sheffield United had plenty of chances to extend their lead once 1-0 up, but Swansea capably put pressure on to ensure the Blades had to go searching for a second to ensure they held onto their lead.

Burrows played his role in keeping a clean sheet for what could be a valuable three points for Wilder’s side.

The ex-Peterborough player made seven defensive actions in total, the fifth most of any Sheffield United player.

While the defensive side of his game does still need work, it was an encouraging performance off the ball in a game where he helped to create the only goal.

Supporters should be pleased with how this signing has worked out so far, and the really exciting part is that this is just the beginning for the 22-year-old, who is still a few seasons away from his peak years.
