FLW's Sheffield United Fan Pundit Jimmy speaks on the form of former Blades attacker Iliman Ndiaye.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...
Everton and Senegal star Iliman Ndiaye has established himself as one of the Premier League's most exciting attackers.
The versatile forward joined Sheffield United in 2019 following the Blades' promotion to the Premier League. And while things didn't click instantly, Ndiaye took the Championship by storm in the club's 2022/23 promotion campaign.
After spending a year with French giants Marseille, Ndiaye would return to English football in the summer of 2024 - joining Everton. He has since gone on to become more influential week in and week out in the top flight and is now an established star for both club and country.
Football League World's Blades Fan Pundit Jimmy has expressed that he is absolutely not surprised to see the 25-year-old thriving in the Premier League.
"I am not surprised at his success one bit," said Jimmy when asked whether it could be foreseen that Ndiaye would go on to establish himself in the Premier League.
"He is the best player I have ever seen in a Sheffield United shirt. His natural ability is unparalleled. I think the sky is the limit for him."
Ndiaye scored nine times for the Toffees in the Premier League last term and played a huge part in the club's resurgence under David Moyes. He also provided an iconic moment in the club's history, when he slammed home from a Jack Grealish cross to score the first goal in Everton's new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
"This is no slight on Everton, because they are a big club in English football. But, I do expect him to kick on and likely end up at a bigger club in the mid to near future," added Jimmy, saying, "He is that good."
"It would not surprise me if he went on to do really good things in his career; he is just an incredible player," concluded Jimmy.
Ndiaye made his Sheffield United debut during the 2020/21 campaign - a year that ended in relegation for the Blades, before he cemented his place in the side the following season. He would finish his first full season with seven goals.
After missing out on the play-off final via a penalty shootout defeat to Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United were gunning for automatic promotion in the subsequent 2022/23 campaign.
With the likes of Tommy Doyle and James McAtee arriving on loan from Manchester City, the Blades had strengthened. But it would be Ndiaye who went on to take the division by storm.
Elegant, explosive, and equally inventive, the Senegalese attacker finished the season with 14 goals and 10 assists - firing the Blades back to the Premier League in the process. He completed 112 successful dribbles and created 51 chances in a Paul Heckingbottom side drilled into a disciplined setup.
By nature, Ndiaye was a game-changer and was often the man to make the difference in scrappier and tighter clashes.
The Blades "reluctantly accepted" a £20 million offer from Ligue 1 giants Marseille over the summer, despite their return to the Premier League. Before he returned to England a year later with Everton.
