With their Premier League parachute payments coming to an end, perhaps every Unitedite will know that the South Yorkshire club are facing a challenging transfer window come June 15th.

Yes, it could well be a world away from last summer's reported £19.1m spend under Ruben Selles, but many Blades fans will be expecting Chris Wilder to have some sort of money pot to play with at least.

Now, a fresh transfer report has come out detailing how United could raise said funds.

Sheffield United plan to offload Gus Hamer & Sydie Peck

Journalist Alan Nixon has delivered a huge update on Sheffield United's summer plans.

Stating via his Patreon, Nixon states that Blades are preparing to offload midfield duo Gus Hamer and Sydie Peck as they address the fallout from missing out on Premier League promotion.

This move would definitely allow the club to generate funds, and both players are apparently viewed as ‘main assets’ capable of attracting interest from elsewhere, according to the journalist.

The main reason stated by Nixon as to why the two could be sold was that COH Sports "hoped" to be in the top-flight for next season, so their plans would have to be changed.

In Hamer’s case, this new development marks a change from Sheffield United's apparent position earlier in the season, which was expected to happen.

Football Insider reported that the Dutchman wouldn't be sold in the winter window despite reported interest from Yorkshire rivals Leeds United, with any potential exit earmarked for summer.

Given the fact that he has one year left on his estimated £30k-per-week contract, cashing in on Hamer does make sense, whereas the talk regarding Sydie Peck may come as a shock.

Nixon says Peck has "caught the eye" this season, which he has, but the 21-year-old is still under contract until 2028.

How selling Gus Hamer & Sydie Peck could affect Sheffield United

Quite obviously, selling Hamer and Peck could inject vital cash into Blades' squad. It remains to be seen how much money the two are valued at, but you’d expect it to be a good amount. Hamer has 17 goal contributions this season in all competitions; Peck has nine from a deeper role.

In truth, offloading Peck does align with United's history of reinvesting from young talent sales. Take David Brooks and Will Osula as an example, where they received £11.5m and £15m respectively from Bournemouth and Newcastle United.

Pair this with Peck being shortlisted for the Championship’s Young Player of the Season Award, and you can see why the former Arsenal prospect could fetch a good transfer fee.

Wilder has already told BBC Sheffield he is ready to make "a lot of changes in the summer," but getting rid of Hamer and Peck is highly likely not one of those.

There was no mention of any concrete interest in the two players from Nixon in the aforementioned report, but the idea that Sheffield United are open to selling them may alter that soon.
