Bournemouth have agreed to pay Sheffield United £1.5 million to complete the signing of Daniel Jebbison.

According to Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam, the Canada-born forward is closing in on a move to the Premier League side.

Jebbison walked away from the Blades at the end of the season, turning down a new contract offer which was described by the club as 'lucrative'.

Instead, he is now set to make the switch to the Cherries, where he will continue his development - albeit he is expected to head to a Championship club on loan at some point this summer, according to talkSPORT's Alex Crook.

The youngster missed a lot of last season due to injury, having spent much time on the sidelines due to a blood clot, meaning he made just one substitute appearance in the Premier League.

Due to Jebbison still being 20 years of age, Sheffield United were due to be owed a figure from whatever club he next signed for.

This fee can be negotiated between clubs, or could be determined by an independent tribunal.

But in this case, both parties have been able to come to an agreement on terms, with Sheffield United set to receive £1.5 million for the England youth international.

The striker emerged from the Blades’ academy system, joining the South Yorkshire outfit in 2018 a year after relocating from Canada.

Jebbison made his senior debut at age of 17 in a Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace in May 2021, which ended 2-0 to the Eagles.

He also became the youngest player in Premier League history to score on their first start, bagging the winner in a 1-0 victory over Everton just a week after his debut.

But his time at Sheffield United came to an end in underwhelming circumstances, with his final appearance coming in a 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur last May.

Having turned down a new contract offer, Jebbison ended his association with the Yorkshire outfit after six years.

Jebbison earned international recognition with the England under-20 side during his time at Bramall Lane, but is now set for a medical to complete his move to Bournemouth ahead of the new campaign.

Sheffield United will be aiming to compete for promotion to the Premier League this season, having been relegated with a 20th place finish in the previous campaign.

Chris Wilder will be looking to make improvements to the first team squad ahead of the 30 August transfer deadline.

Jamie Shackleton became their first addition of the summer, arriving as a free agent after his departure from Leeds United.

But the Blades will be aiming to complete further deals, with their Championship season set to get underway on 9 August with a trip to face Preston North End.

Daniel Jebbison fee doesn’t make up for his Sheffield United departure

Sheffield United clearly wanted to keep hold of Jebbison, and this £1.5 million fee isn’t much consolation.

While he obviously had serious fitness issues last season, there is no denying his potential to improve as a forward.

Losing an academy prospect for so little is a blow, and that is not money that can realistically be reinvested back into finding a replacement.

United needs to solve their financial and takeover issues quickly, as it is costing them the chance to compete in the market and build a team capable of fighting for promotion next season.
