Ivo Grbić has swapped the red and white stripes of Atlético de Madrid for the red and white stripes of Sheffield United.
The Croatian international goalkeeper joins the Blades for an undisclosed fee, and could be in the squad for this weekend’s FA Cup clash with Brighton.
“My first impressions of the club are very good,” Grbić told the club’s official website.
“Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome I have received, I am really happy to be here. It is a big thing for every player to move to the Premier League and I am delighted to join Sheffield United.
“This is the best challenge for me. I’m sure it will be an amazing experience and it will be fun to play in front of our fans and I want to be involved as soon as possible.
“I’ve played in some good leagues in France and Spain, and played in the Champions League with Lille and played 15 or 16 games for Atletico last season which is a big club. I know I am ready now for this challenge.”
The 28-year-old joined Atlético from Croatian club Lokomotiva in 2020, and has also been on loan at French club Lille during that time.
He made a total of 14 appearances for the Rojiblancos – none of which have come this season – and has been capped twice at senior level by Croatia.
He now moves to Bramall Lane, where he will provide stiff competition for Wes Foderingham in the Blades’ Premier League survival bid.
