Sheffield United could be in line for an extremely busy transfer window as manager Chris Wilder looks to right the wrongs of this season.

The 2023/24 campaign was disastrous for the Blades, as they finished bottom of the Premier League table on 16 points, having conceded over 100 goals in 38 games.

Wilder has already expressed that there could be a lot of changes at Bramall Lane over the course of the summer, as he will be making sure he has a squad good enough to compete at the very top of the Championship.

The Yorkshire side have already released their retained list for the season ahead, and there are a few first-team players who have been told they are free to leave when their contracts expire at the end of June.

So, the club is already making room for new additions, so with that, here we have looked at the latest transfer news coming out of the football club...

Sheffield United are willing to sell Ivo Grbic

Sheffield United signed goalkeeper Ivo Grbic from Atlético Madrid in the January transfer window for a fee of around £2.5 million.

The 28-year-old played nine times in the Premier League this season, during which he failed to keep a clean sheet and conceded 25 goals.

Grbic was given an opportunity by Wilder but lost his place in the starting XI in the last five league games of the season.

It now seems he may not play for the club again, as according to the Sheffield Star, Sheffield United are willing to let the goalkeeper leave the club this summer if bids are made for him.

This may be a surprise, given that the Blades are already allowing Wes Foderingham to leave when his contract expires, meaning the club may not be blessed with great options in goal.

Sheffield United interested in Joe Worrall

Sheffield United are interested in signing Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall, as reported by Alan Nixon on his Patreon account.

Worrall came through the academy at Forest for a long time and has gone on to play over 200 games for the club, as well as captaining the side numerous times.

But earlier this season, it became clear he wasn’t preferred anymore, and he was sent out on loan to Turkish side Besiktas in January.

His time in Turkey has been a mixed bag, with him in and out of the team, so his future remains up in the air heading into the summer.

The Turkish giants do have the option to buy Worrall for £4 million in the summer, but a decision on whether they will do that or not won’t be made until they have played their cup final game.

However, there are no guarantees that the defender will join Besiktas, as he may not be keen on staying at the club, especially as he learns there are English teams interested in him.

According to Alan Nixon, the Blades are interested in signing the defender this summer, but they are not the only ones keen.

He goes on to add that the centre-back does have interest in England, with Sheffield United monitoring the 27-year-old, but there are others also said to be keeping an eye on his situation.

Sheffield United make Oli McBurnie contract move

As mentioned before, Sheffield United released their retained list last week, and one name that was on the list was striker Oli McBurnie.

The forward’s deal does expire at the end of this season, but it has now been reported by Alan Nixon that the Blades have offered him a new deal, but on reduced terms.

McBurnie scored six goals in 21 Premier League games this season, as his season was cut short last month due to him picking up a groin injury.

The forward is expected to recover in time to be part of Scotland’s squad for Euro 2024, but it is unclear yet if he will still be a Sheffield United player when doing so.
