Manchester City's Callum Doyle has been linked with a move to Sheffield United, which could be a serious upgrade on Jack Robinson
Callum Doyle has been linked with a move to Bramall Lane, which could prove to be a serious upgrade on their club veteran, Jack Robinson.
Doyle is a talented left-footed defender and a well-renowned name throughout the EFL, spending the past four seasons on loan with Sunderland, Coventry, Leicester, and Norwich.
Being only 21-years old, Doyle started his professional career as a teenager and could prove to be a vital piece in Sheffield United's side if the potential deal is to work out for the youngster.
Having already a wealth of four years' experience playing for top-half Championship sides, Doyle would certainly bring a sense of composure on the ball as well as reliability to the Blades' defence.
According to Sports Boom via the Yorkshire Post, Doyle could finally make a permanent move to Yorkshire from Premier League giants, Manchester City, who value the defender in the region of £8 million to £10 million.
With the experienced Anel Ahmedhodzic out the door this summer transfer window, the Blades have remained keen on strengthening their defensive, and Doyle's signature would certainly do just that.
Having spent last season on loan at fellow Championship outfit Norwich City, Doyle made 40 league appearances for the Canaries where he scored one goal and chipped in with an impressive seven assists.
Known for his defensive stability as well as proven ability to be a threat going forward, Doyle is a transfer that would sure excite Blades fans who would love to see his wand of a left-foot contribute to their promotion hopes.
As well as his talent being there for all to see, Doyle, only being 21-years-old, is a major factor that could sway Sheffield United's decision to sign the defender as he is one for the future and a serious upgrade on their 31-year-old Jack Robinson.
Sheffield United have already made their stance clear on upgrading their backline since Ahmedhodzic's departure by being heavily linked with Hull City's Charlie Hughes, only to be dissuaded away from the deal.
Doyle's youthful characteristics match those of Hughes' and it could be shrewd business to sign the Man City man.
Despite heavy links with a move to Bramall Lane, the talented left-footed defender has drawn much interest from fellow Championship clubs, with his former club Norwich City being among this list.
The Canaries reportedly had a £6.5 million bid rejected in June for Doyle and could be set to improve their bid to between the £8million-£10 million asking price to keep the youngster at Carrow Road.
With new manager Ruben Selles having a job on his hands in cementing a recognised back four as the season kicks-off, the signing of Doyle would surely fill the void with Ahmedhodzic's exit and bolster the Blades' defence.
