Sheffield Wednesday are considering an approach for Mohamed Konate as a potential signing this summer.

According to The Star, the Owls have taken a look at the 20-year-old, who is currently available as a free agent after departing Portuguese side SC Covilha.

The Yorkshire outfit are currently limited to only being allowed to register free agents, so have set their sights on potentially signing the youngster this summer.

The midfielder reportedly travelled with the Sheffield Wednesday squad to their training camp in Burton, where the club will take a closer look at him with a view to a possible move.

The future of Rohl has been a major talking point surrounding the Owls throughout this summer.

The German has received a lot of plaudits for his work with the club since his arrival in November 2023, with positive results turning around their fortunes massively.

According to The Star, he has returned to Sheffield Wednesday two weeks after pre-season has started, with it previously being expected he would depart Hillsborough.

Rohl has a contract until 2027, but it has been claimed that the majority of players in the first team squad are not ready to welcome him back to the club.

Leicester City are among the clubs eyeing a deal for Max Lowe this summer, with the defender potentially available as a free agent.

It has been reported by Alex Crook that the Foxes are showing an interest in the defender, with it understood he could be one of the players who has opted to terminate his Sheffield Wednesday contract.

Unpaid wages in three of the last four months for some players has allowed them to hand in their two weeks’ notice to exit the club, as per FIFA’s rules.

It was claimed by Alan Nixon over the weekend that Preston North End are also interested in the 28-year-old.

There is speculation surrounding the ownership of Sheffield Wednesday, with supporters urging Dejphon Chansiri to sell his stake in the club.

It has been reported by The Sun that the Owls currently owe more than £4 million in football debts.

It has also been claimed that HMRC are also due a tax bill worth £2.2 million for June and July, which could prove a significant issue for the Yorkshire outfit.

It is hoped that the sale of Djeidi Gassama will help raise funds to pay these bills, but it is also possible that prospective new owner Tilman Fertitta could also provide a cash injection, with talks ongoing over a potential takeover deal.
