Her performances in 2024 garnered her a consideration for the U19 Player of the Year award, after winning the U17 accolade in 2023. Kelly has also represented the Republic of Ireland at the U19 level, appearing at the UEFA European Championships in the summer of 2024, including a notable clean sheet and draw against eventual champions Spain.

Kelly is a very exciting young talent and a versatile player who can play as a defensive and attacking midfielder. She has now rejoined Shelbourne FC after acquiring crucial league experience.

The Carlow native is the latest addition to Sean Russell’s squad ahead of the 2026 season.

Aoife is looking forward to her return to Tolka Park: “I am very happy to be rejoining Shelbourne FC ahead of the 2026 season. I’m really looking forward to working with Sean and his staff and helping Shels challenge for trophies this year.”

Shelbourne FC manager Sean Russell added: “Aoife is a young player with lots of experience in the league. She possesses all the qualities we are looking for in a midfielder. Aoife’s attitude, calmness in possession, and energy out of possession will be a great addition to the team.”

Shelbourne FC Technical Director, Luke Byrne said: “Aoife is a fantastic signing and brings real quality to the squad. She’s technical, versatile, and very athletic, and has good experience for someone so young. Sean and his staff are very excited about working with her to realise her potential.”
