Shelbourne FC are pleased to confirm the signing of Swedish midfielder Maill Lundgren, subject to international clearance.
Lundgren moves to Dublin from Swedish top flight side Degerfors IF for an undisclosed fee, having most recently featured on loan with Sandvikens IF in Superettan.
The 24-year-old arrives at Tolka Park with experience across the Swedish football pyramid and further time spent developing abroad.
Born in Orebro, Sweden, Lundgren has developed a reputation as a technically gifted and versatile midfielder, comfortable operating centrally or in wide attacking areas. Known for his work rate, creativity and ability to progress the ball in the final third, he adds further depth and quality to Joey O’Brien’s squad for 2026.
A product of the academy of IFK Haninge and Enskede IK before gaining senior experience in Sweden and Spain, including a spell with Real Murcia. The Swede continued his development in recent seasons with regular football in Sweden’s top two divisions. He made 10 first team appearances for Degerfors IF last season, registering two assists. Having spent the latter part of the year with Sandvikens IF, he played 8 times scoring twice in the league.
Speaking after completing his move to Tolka Park, Lundgren said he was excited by the opportunity to join Shelbourne and test himself in a new league: “I’m very excited to sign for Shelbourne.
