Following a very successful season for the Reds, with the Women’s team bringing the FAI Cup home and finishing second in the League of Ireland this season we are thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievements of four outstanding players who have made a tremendous impact at Shelbourne FC this season. Their hard work, dedication, and unmatched talent have earned them well-deserved recognition.

Players Choice

Player of the Year – Maggie Pierce

Maggie has been a cornerstone of  Shelbourne FC’s success this year. With exceptional performances week in, week out, Maggie consistently displayed skill, hard work and dedication that have proved to serve the team this year. This award is a testament to her role on and off the pitch.

“She has been one of the most consistent performers in the league as a whole throughout the year. Her energy, selflessness, versatility and ability on the ball are just a few of the many reasons why she has been integral to the success of the team this year. Young Player of the Year – Nia Hannon

The future is bright for Nia, who has made some very impressive performances throughout the season. Taking the big step from academy to senior football in her stride.

“Nia has had a fantastic year and has transitioned from academy to senior football with ease and has taken everything in her stride. She is a ball playing centre back who has a great temperament, brilliant attitude and is a fantastic athlete. Nia has improved so much as a player over the past 12 months and is a great role model for any young player within our academy.” – Eoin Wearen

The 1895 Awards

Player of the Year – Roma McLaughlin

Roma has been outstanding for the Reds this season, showing up week in week out, her hard work, football intelligence and drive make her a very worthy winner of this award.

“Roma is a terrific footballer and is the complete midfielder. She is just as good out of possession as she is in possession and has an incredible work ethic both in training and games. Roma also has a brilliant footballing brain and can impact big games in so many ways. She is a player for the big occasion and her experience and quality has been evident throughout the year.” – Eoin Wearen

Young Player of the Year – Leah Doyle

Leah has been fantastic for the Reds this season. With her natural defending and attacking ability she consistently adds greatly to each game. Her contributions have been a key factor in the Reds’ success this season.

“Leah has had an outstanding season this year and has really matured as a player. The second half of the season in particular,  she was performing to a really high level on a consistent basis and added so much to the team from an attacking and defending standpoint, with several significant goals and assists and  contributions like we saw in the Cup final. Leah has a great desire to learn and improve and I believe she can be the best left back in the country in years to come.” – Eoin Wearen
