Ahead of Christmas, players and staff from Shelbourne FC paid a visit to Children’s Health Ireland at Temple St on Monday, along with the League of Ireland trophy and FAI Cup.

Thanks to a generous donation from Smyths Toys, and a contribution from Shelbourne FC, the club brought toys and Shelbourne FC memorabilia to some of the children who are currently under the expert care of the team at Temple St.

Shelbourne FC would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the doctors, patients, and staff at CHI at Temple Street for their warm welcome and hospitality, and a special thanks to Neil Stewart and Barabara Miller and the team at Smyths Toys.

The group representing Shelbourne Football Club included manager Damien Duff, his children Woody and Darcy, first team captain Pearl Slattery, Rachel Graham, Sean Boyd, Sean Gannon, new signings Daniel Kelly and Mipo Odubeko, technical director Luke Byrne, coach David McAllister, Steven Doody, Ben Cleary, and shareholders Brian McGovern and Neil Doyle.

Neil Doyle, Shelbourne FC said: “Damien, the players, staff and I were deeply moved by the bravery and resilience of the children and their families we had the privilege to meet. The visit was a humbling experience and a reminder of the vital work done every day by the dedicated medical professionals and support teams at Temple Street, a special thanks to John Doyle and his team for spending the afternoon with us.”

Gráinne Bauer, Chief Director of Nursing in Children’s Health Ireland said: “Huge thanks to the team at Shelbourne FC and Smyths toys for visiting and bringing such cheer to our patients and families in CHI at Temple Street. It’s a magical time of year but the reality is, it can be very difficult for those families with a sick child in hospital. These visits are so important and provide special festive moments for our families to create memories. We really appreciate your support and kindness.”

Shelbourne FC once again thanks everyone at CHI at Temple Street for your warm welcome and the incredible work you do.
