A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is enjoying an accelerated recovery from injury.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Fermín López as the player in question.
Youngster Fermín has for his part been sidelined since the beginning of the month, when he was condemned to a spell of around three weeks on the sidelines owing to a thigh issue.
The Spanish international’s return to first-team duties, in turn, was not expected to come until next week.
As per the aforementioned MD, however, Fermín, in fact, could take his place in Barcelona’s matchday squad to face AS Monaco in the club’s Champions League opener this week:
‘The player from Huelva is progressing well and is working to be called up on Wednesday, which would reduce the time on the three weeks of absence that were diagnosed.’
Should as much not prove to be the case, the 21-year-old looks certain to be back fit in time to feature against Villarreal at the weekend.
News of Fermín’s imminent return could not come at a better time, after Blaugrana teammate Dani Olmo was confirmed to have suffered a thigh injury of his own earlier in the day.
The summer arrival in Catalunya’s capital is expected to miss around a month of action.
