Sunderland-linked forward Sidiki Cherif has told Angers he wants to prioritise a move to Fenerbahce this month, with a loan and obligation to buy worth about €22m, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The striker has been repeatedly linked with Sunderland and at one stage looked close to the Premier League with Crystal Palace after agreeing personal terms, before the Eagles walked away. Wrexham were later said to be preparing a £19m bid, with Newcastle United, AC Milan and Stuttgart also credited with interest.

Meanwhile, Millwall have opened talks with Brighton over a loan for winger Tommy Watson, with several Championship clubs monitoring the situation, Sky Sports reports.

Watson sealed Sunderland’s return to the top flight last summer in his final act before joining Albion, but he has played only 56 minutes of Premier League football this season across six substitute appearances.

Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler said a loan is possible for the teenager and stressed his priority is regaining rhythm after recent missed training sessions. Millwall, managed by former Sunderland boss Alex Neil, have already added Barry Bannan this month and are credited with interest in Anthony Patterson, who could leave on loan if Sunderland find a replacement before Monday’s deadline.
