Sidny Cabral has been named in Cabo Verde’s World Cup squad. The federation announced the list on Monday, 18 May. The call-up is seen at Benfica as potentially boosting any future sale.

Head coach Pedro Pinto, known as Bubista, included the Benfica winger among his picks, alongside six players based in Portuguese competitions.

Cabral, 23, will report for the opening camp in Cabo Verde from 20 to 24 May, then the squad move to Portugal for further preparation before flying to the United States of America.

Cabo Verde will face Serbia in a friendly at Estádio do Restelo in Portugal. Another warm-up is planned in the USA, with the opponent still to be confirmed.

The Blue Sharks are in Group H with Spain, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia, as they prepare for a first appearance at the tournament.

Cabral has completed his club season and has attracted interest from some European sides.
