Stuttgart have confirmed that Silas Wamangituka will be out for several after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee.
Wamangituka limped off during Saturday’s 4-0 defeat against Bayern Munch following an innocuous challenge with David Alaba.
“Silas Wamangituka will no longer be available for VfB this season,” read an official statement. “The 21-year-old tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the away game at Bayern Munich.
“He will therefore no longer be able to play for VfB this season and will be out for several months.”
The injury comes as a huge blow to the 21-year-old who was enjoying a breakthrough season in the Bundesliga – scoring 11 goals and assisting four.
