Simeone reveals: Arsenal want Julian Álvarez, price tag above £100m | OneFootball

Diego Simeone has confirmed that Arsenal are among the teams interested in signing Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal travel to face Atletico Madrid in the first leg of theirChampions League semi-final this evening.

The North Londoners will need to deal with the threat of Alvarez, who has scored nine goals in 13 European games this season.

Arsenal have been named as admirers of the Argentina international, as the Gunners seek to make a statement striker signing in the summer.

The 26-year-old has emerged as one of Europe's top centre-forwards since signing for Atletico from Manchester City, and the Spanish side value Alvarez in excess of £100m.

He is a player well known to Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta, who oversaw his move to Atletico from thePremier League in 2024.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Simeone said Arsenal are interested in a deal. However, the Atletico Madrid manager said the Gunners face competition from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

"I'm not inside Julian Alvarez's head,"Simeone said when asked if transfer speculation would impact Alvarez.

"It's normal that an extraordinary player like Julian Alvarez is wanted by Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona. It's normal because he's very good."
