Sunderland could be set to welcome winger Simon Adingra back to Wearside, with Monaco not activating a buy option, according to NiceMatin. Huddersfield Town are also said to be monitoring 19-year-old goalkeeper Matty Young.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion player joined last summer and managed one goal and one assist in 15 games before heading to Monaco in January. NiceMatin also claims Wout Faes will not see his clause triggered. Adingra is due to return, with a decision on his long-term future expected after this summer’s World Cup finals.

Elsewhere, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, 19, continues to be linked with Liverpool after 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 outings last season. Reports have suggested a bid of over £100m would be required.

“During negotiations with Leipzig, things also became very concrete with Sunderland. However, they didn’t want to trigger the release clause. Many other clubs who could have paid the €20million said they found the player very interesting, but a transfer was too risky due to his limited playing time.” he told Sky Sports.

Young impressed on loan at Darlington in 2024/25, then at Salford, where he returned last season and kept 16 clean sheets in 50 games. After signing a long-term deal last month, he is expected to leave on loan again next season, with Huddersfield said to be keen.
