Simon Hooper returns to officiate Leeds United’s trip to Everton on Monday night, his first Leeds assignment in 17 months.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Wiltshire-based Select Group referee has overseen 20 Leeds matches, yielding eight wins, six draws and six defeats.

He last handled the Whites in August 2024, a Championship win at Sheffield Wednesday, Brenden Aaronson and Dan James scoring in a 2-0 victory. It will be his first Leeds Premier League game since the 2-2 home draw with Newcastle in May 2023.

The Newcastle draw followed April 2023’s 5-1 home loss to Crystal Palace, the most recent Leeds defeat with Hooper in charge.

Across those 20 fixtures he has dismissed one Leeds player, Junior Firpo in that 2-2 against Newcastle.

Hooper has refereed 18 Everton matches, with eight defeats, four draws and six wins for the Toffees, including September’s goalless home draw with Aston Villa.

He has never awarded Everton a penalty, while Leeds have had two under his watch. The 43-year-old will take charge at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Adrian Holmes and Richard West are his assistants, Stuart Attwell is fourth official. James Bell is on VAR, assisted by Eddie Smart.
