Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Atletico Madrid at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to secure a good result at home in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 clash. Spurs made a quick start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 30th minute thanks to Randal Kolo Muani’s effort. Igor Tudor’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.

Julian Alvarez equalised for the visitors in the 47th minute. However, Xavi Simons restored his team’s lead just five minutes later. David Hancko equalised for Diego Simone’s side in the 75th minute. Simons ended up scoring the winning goal for Spurs from the penalty spot in the 90th minute. The match ended with Tottenham earning a hard-fought 3-2 win on the night, but they got knocked out of the Champions League after losing the tie by a 7-5 margin.
