Jamal Musiala played 90 minutes for the first time this Bundesliga season against Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayern coach Vincent Kompany is delighted

The game against Gladbach was not only his first 90-minute Bundesliga game of the current season, the Bayern star also converted his first Bundesliga penalty – and was handed the captain’s armband by Joshua Kimmich shortly afterwards when he was substituted

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany was delighted after his protégé’s third starter’s appearance, because „I’ll tell you one thing: you saw what an injury he had – against Paris. You mustn’t forget what an injury that was,“ the Belgian told Sky

That’s why the coach was particularly pleased with Musiala’s fitness: „The fact that he’s already back like this is simply outstanding. He should be happy, and we’re happy too,“ summed up Kmopany

Kompany expects further progress

Despite the strong performance against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Kompany did not want to put too much pressure on Musiala’s shoulders just yet. „Talking about what he has to do or whether he has to do everything again is nonsense. It’s good at the moment,“ he said, assessing the 23-year-old’s performance

Nevertheless, he noted: „We’re enjoying his moments. There will be more to come. At some point, we’ll have the best Jamal Musiala again, without a doubt. But at the moment, we’re taking it step by step and this performance today was a bonus for us.“

Musiala himself was also „really happy“ about his performance on Friday evening on the Sky microphone. He described being handed the captain’s armband as a „great honour“, even if he had initially „felt difficult“ when he was captain of the record champions for the first time.
