Sipho Mbule gets a special number with Orlando Pirates for the 2025/26 CAF Champions League

Orlando Pirates have unveiled their squad numbers for the upcoming 2025/26 CAF Champions League campaign, with new acquisition Sipho Mbule receiving the iconic jersey previously worn by club legend Lesley “Slow Poison” Manyathela.

The Buccaneers, who recently secured the MTN8 title, begin their continental journey with a first preliminary round clash against Lioli FC. The opening leg is scheduled to take place at the Free State Stadium on Saturday.

Having reached the semi-finals in the previous edition, the Soweto-based club is now determined to reclaim the title they last won in 1995. A triumph would elevate head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and his current squad to a status comparable to the legendary 1995 team.

This season also marks Ouaddou’s debut in the CAF Champions League as a manager, following his initial experience in continental competitions last year with AS Vita in the CAF Confederation Cup.
