Following a 2-2 draw with Elche CF this past weekend, Real Madrid have found themselves in a precarious position heading into their Champions League clash against Olympiacos.

Pressure is mounting on Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso, with reports from the Spanish capital suggesting internal discontent has reached a critical point less than six months into his tenure.

According to Jorge Picon, the situation has become ‘intolerable’ within the Real Madrid dressing room.

The journalist believes Xabi Alonso’s situation has become intolerable. Many players have started wanting change. And important voices in the management have begun to see the necessity for it.

What’s going wrong at Real Madrid?

The tension follows a series of poor results before the international break, which saw the team suffer a defeat to Liverpool and drop points against Rayo Vallecano. The recent draw with Elche didn’t help the cause either.

This recent winless run, coupled with a growing list of defensive injuries including Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger, has fueled doubts about Alonso’s handling of the squad.

Discontent is reportedly centered on the coach’s man-management style and rigid tactical approach.

Several key players, including star forward Vinicius Junior, are said to have a strained relationship with Alonso, contributing to a lack of cohesion within the starting XI.

In fact, a bombshell report from the Athletic suggests Vinicius Jr. has already informed Florentino Perez he won’t renew his contract, citing his relationship with Xabi Alonso.

The situation marks a major escalation in the crisis facing the league leaders. With the squad pushing for Alonso’s exit, the pressure is now squarely on the club’s management to decide if they will back the former player or move quickly to prevent further disruption to the season.
